Practical Applications of the IQS

The IQS makes the assessment of the quality of a soil at the same time easy and complete, providing diagnosis of the limitations and potentials under different perspectives (profile > layer > attribute). It´s a highly efficient driver of resources for a rational, profitable and sustainable management.

Agricultural Financing and Insurance:

IQS as a driver of interest rates and insurance premiums, allowing banks and insurance companies to charge according to the soil rating.

Land Lease and Partnership

IQS as part of the agreement. The soil rating provides the basis for landlords and tenants/partners to negotiate penalties and bonuses according to the rating at the end compared to the beginning of the agreement.

Purchase and Sale of Rural Properties

IQS as the perfect tool to support price negotiation and purchase decision. It allows one to quantify the soil limitations and project the necessary investments.

Classification of Production Environments

IQS as a tool for a better variety management. It allows the identification of high, medium and low fertility soils.

What does the IQS comprise?

Based on the stratified analysis of the soil profile, the chemical and physical attributes that most influence the plants´ performance in each layer are transformed into notes (the Performance Indices), from which the IQS scores the profile fertility with a note from 0 to 10 and classifies the soil into a rating that goes from G to A.

Understand how the rating works

Production stability
and productive potencial

Fertile soils tend to produce more and more constantly through the seasons. With IQS you can cross the limits, potentializing your investments even more, each season increasing your soil´s productive capacity more and more. Because soils with higher potential and stability allows for bigger yields.

Risk and return
on investment

Bigger production, with more stability and efficient application of the resources guarantee high financial return and minimized risk.
With IQS you know what limits your soil and realize what efforts are necessary to recover it, so that the best decisions can taken for your business to get more protected and achieve better results.

Real examples

Both areas utilized for comparison in the example below are of very similar environment (same altitude, same soil texture and situated 60 km from each other) and the most important thing: both have the production purpose: seed production.

In this example it is possible to compare a soil with Rating A+ and IQS 9,4 to another with Rating E+ and IQS 4,9.

Help Us Preserve

Soil is a finite, limited and non renewable resource. It is also the basis for food, fiber and energy production.

We, just like every living being, are made of soil, of its chemical elements, which are transferred to us through the plants.

Without soil, life is not possible and this is our motto to study and try to understand it better every day, and communicate its importance for our existence.

More than doing tests and analyses, Laborsolo contributes to the development of researches and actions that aim to improve agricultural practices and their impact on the environment.

Above all, we want to preserve our most important resource and invite you to be part of this ideal.
